Show Us Your Singles Link Up! Colleen 27/NWA

Today I am linking up with Kelly's Korner for her Show Us You Singles! I actually know a couple who met through Kelly's Singles Blog, blogging at it's best. So here goes...

This is my best friend:

We have no idea when or how we became such good friends. We were hanging out with some of the same people and just instantly were friends. I think it's because I make her hug me when we say "bye." You see Colleen is from the North, where it's cold and people don't say y'all and they don't hug like us Southerners do. She's been in the South since her freshman year of college at the UofA in Fayetteville and I don't think she has once said the word y'all nor will she ever.

Stats:
Degree from the University of Arkansas in Marketing
In school for a degree in Graphic Design at the U of A
Also, works for the University.
She was the Best Maid of Honor I could have asked for.
She mows her own lawn and likes to work out.
She likes to kayak but please no camping.
She loves Halloween and St Patrick's Day
It took her all of 7 seconds to start crying during her MOH speech. {which I found completely endearing}
She would give you the last dime in her pocket if you needed it.
She has great sense of humor and she's just pretty much amazing.
...and she goes along with all my crazy ideas for adventures, including kayaking the Colorado River in Vegas for my 25th birthday, one day driving to see the bridge where they shot Elizabethtown, dressing up like astronauts for Halloween because of awesome kid sized Nasa helmets and then making said costumes while I moved apartments for the 18th time and many more.

All in all I want her to find a good guy with a good job who wants a family!

Chili's Salsa Recipe: Easy, Delicious and Cheap

We have started menu planning at our house. At first it seemed like a daunting task but it is so nice to know you have all the ingredients for 6 meals at a time and there's no "what do you want for dinner? I don't know what you want."

While doing our menu plan we had several dishes that we could use Salsa with and I knew I had several pinned.
I picked out the Copy Cat Chili's Salsa Recipe from the Six Sisters that I had pinned and decided to go for it. I had most the spices I needed and I LOVE Chili's Salsa.
This blog is all about recipes and their copycat's that I have tried hit the nail on the head. I changed a few things about this recipe because we wanted it a little spicier!

Here is what you need:
2 cans (14.5 oz each) whole tomatoes, drained
Canned, whole jalapenos (not pickled and fresh works too, the recipe called for 3-4, I used 9)
1 yellow onion, quartered
1 teaspoon garlic salt ( I used 1/2 garlic salt and 1/2 garlic powder to keep the sodium down)
1 tsp cumin
1/2 tsp sugar
2 teaspoons lime juice
2 tablespoons Sriracha Chili Sauce (or eye ball it at two circles around the food processor)*
* this stuff is hot so put a little in first then add more if needed, also I will be doing Come Again Sauce next week with this ingredient so if you like spicy buy it now and I will do several recipes for you to use it in!

Put all your ingredients into a food processor and blend till all ingredients are pureed. Transfer to a jar or Tupperware container, refrigerate and enjoy! I made this two weeks ago and we still have half a large jar so it makes a generous amount.

I had to buy 2 cans tomatoes, jalapenos, yellow onion and Sriracha and the total was $2.87. Easy, Cheap, Delicious!

Do you have a salsa recipe you love?

sugar and spice..and pumpkin: Fall Scents Galore!

*disclaimer I'm sure Martha makes her own candles, but does she make Creamy Pumpkin candles that smell like Heaven in the Fall, I doubt it.

Let's talk Bath and Body Works!

My Favorite scents for Fall are in our living room:
Black Pepper Bergamot: yes the name is strange and yes it doesn't sound Fall at all BUT it's warm and has a lavender undertone and less black pepper than I was expecting. It's masculine and yet neutral all at the same time.

Creamy Pumpkin: it's exactly what I think Heaven smells like in the Fall. Pumpkin + Caramel + Cream. I have to say I am allergic to the scent of cinnamon, sounds made up but let me tell you migraines for days! This has just the right amount that I can handle and I still get the spice scent that's nice for Fall and Christmas.

Farmstand Apple: which is equal to Country Apple just a new name. Fresh crisp scent that is exactly what it looks like it would be.

Autumn: Apple, Pomegranate and Fir Balsam make up this neutral scent. Not too sweet and not rich in perfume either. I feel like it balances out other smells nicely so you can mix it with just about any candle.

Others that were on my list to try and my opinions on those!
So what are your favorites? Do you have another brand you use for all your plug ins and candles?

oh! Martha

This was a term I heard a lot growing up, oh! Martha, as my Mom would watch the Martha Stewart Show. Martha made the best decorations for every season, never had to explain a fire in the oven and made it all look so effortless {she still does}.

Then there was the day I knew I wanted to be a Martha. It was Spring time and Martha was making a fabulous table center piece for her dinner party which just happened to include:
My Mom's reaction: "What a waste of a perfectly good artichoke!" I was hooked from then on and even thought about having these at my wedding. Unfortunately they didn't go with the color scheme.

So this is my blog about every thing Martha and sometimes Paula and even Rachael added all in with this addicting thing called Pinterest!
